Michael Mills

Michael Mills is a trial lawyer based in Wilmington, North Carolina. He has handled cases across the state.

Michael Mills' law practice includes representing victims and their families in serious and catastrophic personal injury cases, wrongful death, tractor-trailer collisions, car accidents, plant explosions, fire and burn trauma, business torts, and other litigation. He also represents landowners in eminent domain and property rights litigation, and handles will contests, and criminal defense cases.

Michael believes that every person, regardless of their status, deserves equal protection under the law and justice. People injured by no fault of their own, accused of a crime, or entangled in a criminal investigation deserve an aggressive lawyer that will fight for them, seek justice, and protect their rights.

Michael's mission is the justice his clients deserve. Although not all cases go to trial, Michael works efficiently and maximizes settlement value by staying zeroed-in on how to prevail at trial. If the case goes to trial, Michael's purpose is to win.

A renowned speaker, raconteur, and storyteller, Michael believes that every case has a unique story. Michael identifies and tells that story. Michael masters the facts and law so that he can present each case in an efficient, clear, convincing, and compelling manner.

Michael's clients have included congressmen, legislators, and noted political figures, athletes, entertainers, oil and business leaders, businesses and business people, members of the agricultural, construction, educational, legal, and medical communities, car dealerships, real estate developers, unions and union leaders, workers, and folks from all walks of life.

Michael earned his A.B. degree and J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is admitted to practice in state and federal courts, including North Carolina and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina.

Prior to entering private practice, Michael served as Chief-of-Staff to a United States Congressman, special counsel (to a member of congress), and an Assistant Attorney General in the NC Department of Justice. Michael has also served as a member of the NC Board of Transportation and on various committees.

He has been active in the state and community. He has served on the NC State Democratic Executive Council and NC Youth Advisory Council. He has also enjoyed serving as an umpire, baseball coach, and tennis coach.
